What is the catalyzer?

The “catalytic converter,” also known as a “catalyzer,” is a crucial component of a car. A lot of toxic substances will be generated in exhaust gases and cleaning them will be necessary.

The catalytic converter is designed to transform toxic substances into harmless substances through chemical reactions. To keep the earth in a green environment, the process is always an important part of a car.

Even though the number and location of catalytic converters are different in each car, they are generally installed between the engine and the exhaust.

Inside the catalytic converter, there is a honeycomb-like structure called a “honeycomb.” It is coated with precious metals to transform toxic substances into harmless substances through chemical reactions.

Features of the HKS catalyzer series: Better Performance

OEM catalytic converter is coated by precious metals "ceramic".
Ceramic has the advantage of being cheaper, but exhaust resistance is higher because the grain is very thin to ensure basic performance.

The honeycomb in HKS’s catalytic converter uses heat-resistant metal, which is coated with precious metals. This is why it’s called a “metal catalytic converter.” If you compare it to the OEM, you’ll see that the structure is completely different.

For example, the GR86 OEM is equipped with an OEM 600-cells catalytic converter. However, HKS catalytic converter has successfully reduced it to 150 cells, which is a quarter of the OEM specification. The design reduces exhaust resistance while also improving power, torque, and response.

Features of the HKS catalyzer series: Purification Performance

A high-quality catalytic converter is not designed solely by reducing the number of cells to increase car performance, as this could reduce purification performance.

HKS uses a honeycomb structure that optimizes the composition of precious metal components to ensure purification performance. In addition, we have in-house equipment that can perform tests equivalent to public emission tests. Therefore, we can fine-tune the specifications until we are satisfied, clearing the emission tests while improving performance.

The HKS metal catalyzer series has passed the strict Japanese emissions regulations and has been issued the emissions test certificates. You can enjoy improved performance without worrying about causing environmental pollution.

HKS metal catalyzers are available for a wide range of vehicles, from old cars to the latest models. They are designed to improve exhaust efficiency and purification performance simultaneously.
